March 15, 2018 AAA Awards Schools Traffic Safety Grants AAA Awards Schools Traffic Safety Grants BURNSVILLE, Mn (March 15, 2018) – As the school year begins to wind down, AAA - The Auto Club Group is awarding mini-grants totaling approximately $22,000 to nearly 50 Minnesota schools who applied for funding to enhance traffic safety in their communities. “Schools of all levels were allowed to apply for mini-grants as they prepare their students for the upcoming prom and graduation season as well as spring/summer safety events,” stated Gail Weinholzer, director of public affairs, AAA - The Auto Club Group. “It is our goal to provide schools with resources to ensure the spring and summer are as safe as possible for Minnesota’s children of all ages.” “AAA – The Auto Club Group has a long history of providing programs and funding to schools for everything from AAA School Safety Patrol programs to Teen Driving preparedness,” continued Weinholzer. The mini-grants allowed schools to determine what activities, programs or events would best help their communities. Some of the differing ideas included programs focused on supporting mock car crashes, distracted driving campaigns, bike rodeos and safety camps. Checks will be presented in April and those schools receiving the funds are: School City Adams School Fergus Falls Adrian High School Adrian Alexandria High School Alexandria Apollo High School St. Cloud Belgrade Brooten Elrosa Public School Belgrade Benson High School Benson Big Lake High School Big Lake BOLD High School Olivia Braham High School Braham Capitol Hill Magnet School St Paul Chanhassen High School Chanhassen Chatfield High School Chatfield Duluth East High School Duluth Elk River High School Elk River Granada Huntley East Chain School Granada Grey Eagle School Long Prairie Irondale High School Irondale Jordan High School Jordan Keewatin Elementary School Keewatin Kennedy Secondary School Fergus Falls Lakeville South High School Lakeville Lanesboro High School Lanesboro Lester Prairie Public School Lester Prairie Lincoln High School Esko Lincoln High School Thief River Falls Little Falls Community High School Little Falls Luverne High School Luverne Marshall Senior High School Marshall Martin County West High School Sherburn Milaca High School Milaca Minnehaha Academy Mendota Heights Murray County Central High School Slayton Okabena Elementary School Heron Lake Ortonville High School Ortonville Osakis Public School Osakis Parkers Prairie High School Parkers Prairie Pine island High School Pine Island Ridgewater College Wilmar Rocori High School Cold Spring Sartell Middle School Sartell Sauk Centre Secondary School Sauk Centre Shakopee High School Shakopee St Mary's School of Bird Island Bird Island St Paul Public Schools St Paul Stewartville High School Stewartville Tracy Area High Schools Tracy Underwood Public Schools Underwood United South Central School Wells Windom Area School Windom # # #
