AAA Launches AAADrive app in Iowa

An app for members and insureds to improve their driving behavior

Burnsville, Mn (December 12, 2016) — AAA members and insureds in Iowa are now eligible to download the free AAADrive app from the AAA Mobile App.  It is a new product that focuses on improving driving behaviors using smartphone based technology. AAADrive records and assesses a driver’s driving habits as well as providing additional value by allowing a parent to monitor the driving of their teenage child or children.

The overall score received by each driver is representative of how they drive - a higher score indicates that you have exhibited safer driving behaviors. Additionally, the AAADrive Dashboard displays the AAA average score for all AAADrive app users. Therefore, a driver can compare their driving ability to all others using the AAADrive app.

AAADrive includes pinpoints that show icons for specific locations during your journey. A review of these pinpoints for each journey will assist you in improving your driving score. In addition, AAADrive will provide feedback on your driving patterns and suggestions for improving scores, if appropriate.  Aspects of driving assessed by AAADrive are:

  • Smooth Driving – The ability to drive smoothly avoiding harsh braking and erratic speed changes
  • Speed – Driving at appropriate speeds most of the time
  • Mobile Distraction – Restraint from using your mobile phone while driving
  • Time of Day – Avoid driving between midnight and 4:00 a.m.
  • Fatigue – The length of time on a continuous journey
Those interested in AAADrive can enroll with their AAA agent and then register through the AAA Mobile app on their smartphones.
