Legionville Registration Open for the Summer

Minnesota Camp Provides One of a Kind Experience Says AAA & Minnesota State Patrol

BURNSVILLE, MN (May 2, 2016)- Legionville, a school safety patrol camp located in Brainerd on North Long Lake, is the only one of its kind in the nation and has opened registration for this coming summer.  Owned and managed by the American Legion- Department of Minnesota, supported financially by AAA-The Auto Club Group, with classes run by the Safety Education Officers of the Minnesota State Patrol, Legionville provides a once in a lifetime experience for children looking to learn lifelong safety habits.

In addition to school safety patrol classes, campers learn pedestrian, bus and water safety as well as first aid and have fun in a full camp experience.  Beginning Sunday June 19th and running seven weeks through Friday, August 12th, this nearly weeklong camp (six day, five night) experience is also incredibly well priced at $275 per camper.  Campers are typically between the ages of 10-14 years old and are usually entering fourth, fifth or sixth grade.

“Legionville’s safety patrol campers learn a tremendous amount of information about keeping themselves and elementary students safe while crossing roadways and exiting buses,” said Lt. Tiffani Nielson, Minnesota State Patrol.  “The Legionville camp experience is also tremendously fun and enjoyable for the campers and staff!”

“Since the nationwide advent of AAA’s School Patrol Program in 1920, millions of boys and girls have served and since that time, the casualty record among children ages 5 to 14 has improved significantly, with patrollers having played an important role in this achievement,” stated Gail Weinholzer, Director of Public Affairs, AAA- The Auto Club Group.
