AAA Travel hosts its 2016 Vacation Expo in Shoreview this weekend to help residents plan their next vacation while saving them money. A recent AAA study shows that nearly two-thirds (64%) of travelers are booking 7 months to 2 years in advance, thanks in large part to falling gas prices and improvements in the economy.
"The fact that travelers are booking so far in advance tells us that people are taking more expensive trips, and want enough time to adequately plan them," said Connie Patava, Regional Travel Sales Consultant in Waterloo, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "Despite improvements in the economy and low gas prices, saving money remains a top priority for many families, and booking in advance allows travelers to do just that.”
In addition to warm-weather destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean, European cities top AAA’s list of the most popular international travel destinations.
“Travelers heading to Europe will enjoy favorable currency exchange rates, making now an excellent time to plan a trip overseas,” said Patava. “Unique experiences such as river cruising are incredibly popular as well, as travelers look for opportunities to immerse themselves in a destination’s local culture while enjoying a hassle-free vacation experience abroad.”
AAA’s Vacation Expo is the place to find the best deals possible. AAA Travel will offer consumers day-of-show savings up to $500 on a new land vacation bookings or a shipboard credit of up to $500 on a new cruise reservations, in addition to any supplier offer at the event.
